About Gurdwara

GURDWARA, (meaning "door to the Guru") is a place of assembly for Sikhs and all Mankind who seek to gain the "right understating of God, Nature (humanity and ecosystem) and Society". Sikhs also refer to Gurdwara as 'Gurdwara Sahib'.

Through the Gurdwara the Guru's Gate one obtains understanding. By being washed through this Gate, it becomes pure.

'GURU' literally means 'the Dispeller of Darkness'. 'Gu' means light, and 'Ru' means darkness, representing that the Guru dispels ignorance through enlightenment. Guru has multiple roles. Guru inspires and leads the community, enlightens and uplifts the individuals and society, as well as provides a roadmap for living a complete perfect life. Guru is the 'Shabad' (Divine infinite Wisdom). Shabad (the GuruBani) was revealed and manifested through the first Guru, Guru Nanak Sahib, and five succeeding Gurus who developed the Sikh faith and manifested the complete form of Sikh Nation. The Sikh Nation means "a world where all human beings live without fear or hatred". Sikhs consider the revelation contained in the Sacred Scripture (Guru Granth Sahib) to be the living Word of God, which is a compilation of communicated directly through the enlightened Gurus and Saints (Bhagats) who experienced God and were from different socio-economic (so called, caste and class) and religious backgrounds and shared the Universal religion, of and for mankind.
